Smart business owners know that having the right tools is an essential part of achieving success. Investing in high-quality tools and equipment costs money. However, it can make a huge difference in productivity(productividad) by dramatically speeding up a company’s workflow.

Jib cranes are overhead cranes that feature a unique design. They are made up of a large mast or post that is mounted to the ground. At the top of the post, a heavy-duty beam extends outward, running parallel to the ground. This beam is known as a jib, which is how these cranes got their name.

On the jib, a trolley is mounted. This trolley is designed to carry a hoist(llevar un polipasto) with a lifting hook from one end of the jib to the other. The jib itself acts like a large, rotating arm. With most freestanding jib cranes, it can rotate a full 360° around the base.

This allows the person operating the crane to pick up and move items that fall anywhere underneath the path of the jib. All that they have to do is rotate the jib to the proper location. From there, it is simply a matter of moving the trolley along the jib until the hoist is positioned directly over the load.

Wall-mounted and column-mounted(montado en columna) jib cranes are also available. As you might guess, the wall-mounted styles have a jib that extends out from the wall rather than being mounted on a freestanding post. Because the wall interferes with the movement of the crane, the jib can only rotate about 180° with this design.

Column mounted jib cranes are similar. The primary difference is that they are mounted to one of the support columns of the building rather than being mounted to a wall. Again, their range of motion is more limited than freestanding jib cranes, simply because the column does not allow them to rotate all the way around.

There are a lot of ways that your business can benefit from the use of a jib crane. These cranes are extremely strong, meaning that they can lift heavy loads. They can be mounted near construction sites(sitios de construcción) so that employees can move heavy items around without having to strain their bodies. This can not only allow them to get their work done faster but can also reduce the likelihood of injuries occurring on the job. This can translate into fewer sick days and less downtime.
